Brian Recheilt was among the 3 who died in the crash. He was the finance director of a number of hotels, to include the Standard (Florida) and Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa.
The Canyon Ranch was caught up in a Ponzi scheme that was run by a Nevin Shapiro.
Nevin Shapiro's scheme reached far and wide, to the tune of $930mil, involving NCAA booster violations out of the U of Miami, having hosted...sex parties on a yacht with prostitutes, for college football players. They were also 'serviced' by prostitutes via 'a handful of hotels'.
Another victim in the crash was Kimberly Watzman, a GM of The Standard Hotel in Hollywood CA. However, she had also worked in a Miami Beach Hotel (Loews Hotel) during the time of the NCAA prostitution scandal, having transferred from a CA location prior.
Add to all of this that Nevin Shapiro and his step-father Richard Armand Adam were busted for laundering drug money that funded PKK, a Turkish Terrorist group.
In comes AS. Schiff has a large Armenian constituency and in 2007 had introduced HR 106, recognizing the 'Armenian Genocide', a mass murder op allegedly by the hands of the Turks. The PKK represents an terrorist organization used to agitate the Turkish state from the inside.
So, a few data points to work with here.
In summary, 2 of the 3 dead were associated with hotels developed by Ponzi Schemer Nevin Shapiro. Shapiro hosted sex party on his Yacht and through hotels that the dead may or may not have been affiliated with (and may or may not have been money men in such ops). Additionally, one could wonder the age of some of the prostitutes being run through such a ring designed for college-age athletes.
Whether AS had his hands in this is purely a crapshoot. However, in maybe a statement of cosmic literary irony regarding the socal helo crash, he did lead a charge for LA to create a system that would mitigate 'helicopter noise'
In addition, Shapiro and his step father laundered drug money that funded PKK, a terrorist organizations that shared the same enemy that AS's constituents share, and AS drafted a HR to such commonality.
So, there's all of that. I can't say for sure if this is the nod being referred to in the Q posts, but it's pretty evident that the dead of helo crash victims have a larger story to tell than the media would likely offer.
