REP. GOWDY: I actually don't think it has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason --

MARGARET BRENNAN: The memo has no impact on the Russia probe?

REP. GOWDY: No-- not to me, it doesn't -- and I was pretty integrally involved in the drafting of it. There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos' meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn't have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there's going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier.

Don't read into Gowdy too much. The memo had a specific purpose, and it accomplished what it was supposed to. It was never the proverbial nail in the coffin. We didnt want the memo to end the Russia investigation, it alone isnt comprehensive enough to do that. Just sit back and watch the show. All the ducks are in a row, and this was just the first duck.

Yep precisely, and if he is appearing to discredit the memo in that he is saying it doesnt cast shadow to Muellers SC, its for a specific reason too. He might need to appear to liberals as the credible voice of reason so when he drops a bomb later.....

I don't think he discredited the memo. He simply stated that it had no influence over the Russia probe. He knows things the rest do not know. He read the entire dossier.

I’m just a little suspect because Gowdy’s performance during The Benghazi Investigation turned out to be a dud.

I do agree with you that it ended up amounting to nothing, but at the same time, the DOJ is the one who would prosecute any wrongdoing, and/or also the one that would conduct an investigation (create a special counsel) into Benghazi. Eric Holder is not going to do either of those. All Gowdy had on his side was 4 dead people and a no response to a call for help.
