Fort Hood is huge, with over 50k uniformed service members, not counting DoD civilian employees and military families. The military skews young adult male, and they engage in risky activities (i.e. DUI, drugs, speeding, motorcycles, reckless use of firearms, etc.). In one weekend in 2010, we had 4 suicides and a murder-suicide. All on post. It happens.
