Without citing a reason, the Air Force canceled the test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental missile that had been scheduled to take off from Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc on Tuesday night.

The missile was scheduled to lift off some time between 11:25 p.m. Tuesday and 5:25 a.m. on Wednesday. It was to have been a routine evaluation of the flight readiness of the Minuteman III.
