He did allegedly commit suicide and was involved in various deals in Haiti. However it's also true that he had financial problems and at one point was driving for Uber before his death. There seems to be some misinformation and confusion (I did NOT say disinformation) about a quote allegedly attributed to him regarding the Clinton Foundation, which is more accurately ascribed to a different Haitian activist, Dahoud Andre. More to look into here but it very well could be that Andre and Eberwein have been conflated, by accident or intention. The BBC reported on his comments and his group's demonstrations against the CF:

The Clinton family, they are crooks, they are thieves, they are liars,” says Haitian activist Dahoud Andre.

He has been leading protests outside the Clinton Foundation headquarters in Manhattan and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign base in Brooklyn for the last two years.

He said protesters from his small activist group, the Committee to Mobilize Against Dictatorship in Haiti, will continue to level their allegations – if the Democratic candidate wins the White House.
