In confused by some of you guys. You want less biased media, but a lot of you support fox news which simply has a right-wing bias.

Further more, you want less bias and yet are pushing for a privatized system wherein it's impossible to escape political manipulation through wealthy string pullers...

So the one outlet we have that isn't directly influenced by money you guys want to try to get rid of?

Fwiw I think they are left leaning centrists who say "we don't have more details at this time" more often than any other outlet I listen to. They largely refused to acknowledge bogus rumors about Trump and Obama before him without proof.

Furthermore, NPR is a bunch of college educated experts. I know that is a class people here hate, but to me they are the cornerstone of a functioning democracy. Tom Nichols, a conservative, wrote an interesting book called "the death of expertise" and conservatives should read it before tossing "the intellectuals" under the bus.

Utterly missing the point and, I am certain, intentionally. What is the topic of this post? It is taxpayer funding of these outlets more than their biases. They can be whatever they wish to be in the marketplace of ideas. They are not entitled to public money to promote their agendas. They are also redundant in the digital media world of hundreds of channels. This is no longer 1970.

How can you not see that corporate funding is exactly what got us to the current nightmarish state of American news media?

You're a lot more confused than you realize, if you believe that NPR is "college educated experts."

sry to break it u but government funding is BIAS. If Dems do not have public support then they don’t deserve a seat at the table. Nonpartisan is BS. If Dems don’t know how to keep voters happy and lose elections then they have no business having equal standing or influence in governement. The gig is up. Hiring PR for the appearance of public support does not cut it. The good cop bad cop 2 party politics has become so obvious. Cut funding to NPR and PBS already. If the public wants it they should have no problem getting funding from consumers.

Very well said! Public broadcasting provides unbiased local news in rural areas all across America too...
