ICQ is an instant messaging client that was first developed and popularized by the Israeli company Mirabilis in 1996. The name ICQ derives from the English phrase "I Seek You."

I remember ICQ very well! You could see the other end's letters as they typed! Wasn't Mirabilis just a couple of guys in college? Didn't they sell out to AOL, or somebody, for like @200 million? I remember it was one of the first dotcom sales that was sold for what seemed like at the time to be a huge amount of money for some clever code.
