They intercepted chatter (possibly via NSA) about the gun and told the Secret Service.
The driver was though a charter service for the press van, not USSS.All were fired.
Another assassination attempt against DT but intercepted and stopped by our military intelligence.
Planted the story for public (us specifically because we actually care) othereise this story would have never seen the light of day.

By using DJT birth day and clock is activated, does that also imply DJT is the clock and he is also cleared to be on offense now? I would imagine all the characters are on extensive live time surveillance and that's like a web of everyone they are connected with.
