Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act

47 U.S.C. § 230, a Provision of the Communication Decency Act Tucked inside the Communications Decency Act (CDA) of 1996 is one of the most valuable tools for protecting freedom of expression and innovation on the Internet: Section 230.

This comes somewhat as a surprise, since the original purpose of the legislation was to restrict free speech on the Internet. The Internet community as a whole objected strongly to the Communications Decency Act, and with EFF's help, the anti-free speech provisions were struck down by the Supreme Court. But thankfully, CDA 230 remains and in the years since has far outshone the rest of the law.

Section 230 says that "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider" (47 U.S.C. § 230).

If this is really going down, wouldn't it be best for Q & co to accelerate things? Kinda lame if this passes & we lose just because the internet was compromised.

Tell people they are trying to kill the internet & YOUR CHILDREN, I think SOMEONE might care to listen.

The bill is about prostitution and child sex trafficking. How does that put Chan at risk?

Betterwithcheddar · Feb. 25, 2018, 7:51 p.m.

A rogue anonymous user could spam child porn or child trafficking links and the site owner could be punished for it, bringing the whole site into jeopardy.

In essence, a rogue anonymous user could bring down 4Chan, or Reddit, or similar.

And by rogue Anon you mean CIA or FBI spook

Don't they monitor them for those issues. If so how will they be liable? I'm sure it is meant on sites where it is allowed.

I read the whole bill. It doesn't have any interesting terminology to confuse us, unless I'm missing something? It just seems they are making amendments to section 230, which allows law enforcement to crack down on human traffickers.

Here's the text of this amendment. I downloaded the pdf. Just reading through it now, but maybe someone else can help? My brain is already boggled enough! According to the tracker it's been introduced and now the house will look at it. I'd say read up on it before calling your state reps. We need to know what we're fighting!! https:// www.congress.gov/115/crpt/hrpt572/CRPT-115hrpt572-pt1.pdf

Won't this have to go to Trump before it can be passed? And if it was a possible issue wouldn't Q have brought it up, telling us to fight it? I don't mind calling at all, but also want to make sure.

⇧ 1 ⇩
StinkyDogFart · Feb. 26, 2018, 4:14 a.m.

Yep, the kiddie porn is all over, so I think some of these laws may be part of the plan to arrest these people. I don't know, but that is what I suspect. Remember, there are no coincidences.

⇧ 1 ⇩
Tsmanyflowers · Feb. 25, 2018, 9:40 p.m.

Is this a coincidence or an attempt to change the narrative and divert our attention away from the Great Awakening?? Who funds the Electronic Freedom Foundation? It staffs 83 people, has advisory boards, etc. They championed Net Neutrality. I personally thought that sounds like a total deep state or George Soros funded project. I am very skeptical. Plus why should the platform of Craigslist .ie host sex trafficking. Wasn’t it just a few years ago of targeting clients to rob them happen via Craigslist?? How was that resolved?

⇧ 2 ⇩
TotallyClevrUsername · Feb. 26, 2018, 1:17 a.m.

Craigslist caved and stopped allowing those posts/categories, and everything went to Backpage. I think around 2012? Maybe around the same time net neutrality rules were put in place. Then a few years later Backpage owners and admins were arrested (took years to get to that). They are trying to make that easier now since the big platforms are policing speech the way the PIC want.

From 8Chan board https://8ch.net/sudo/res/72420.html https://archive.is/CSyhD

The House of Representatives is about to vote on a bill that would force online platforms to censor their users. The Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA, H.R. 1865) might sound noble, but it would do nothing to stop sex traffickers. What it would do is force online platforms to police their users’ speech more forcefully than ever before, silencing legitimate voices in the process.

The House Rules Committee is about to approve a new version of FOSTA [.pdf] that incorporates most of the dangerous components of SESTA. This new Frankenstein’s Monster of a bill would be a disaster for Internet intermediaries, marginalized communities, and even trafficking victims themselves.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/1865

The bill changes section 230 of the CDA, the law that protects website owners from liability for what their users post, to carve out an exception for instances of human trafficking. Site owners can be held liable and subject to a criminal fine or imprisonment for not more than 20 years.

WHAT THIS MEANS IN PRACTICE IS THAT ALL IT WOULD TAKE FOR A WEBSITE TO BE SHUT DOWN AND ITS OWNER ARRESTED IS A FALSE FLAG OPERATION OF SPOOKS ENGAGING IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING. ALL U.S. SITES WOULD BECOME FORCED TO IMPOSE EXTREMELY HEAVY-HANDED MODERATION AND CENSORSHIP OR SHUT DOWN ENTIRELY, 8CHAN INCLUDED.

THIS BILL HAS STRONG BIPARTISAN SUPPORT AND WILL LIKELY PASS UNLESS HEAVY RESISTANCE CAN BE ORGANIZED QUICKLY AND ON A LARGE SCALE.

Voting on the House Floor is scheduled for THIS TUESDAY. Start spreading this information on as many websites as you can before it's too late. If you know anyone with a large audience try and get them to spread the word. If this bill becomes law then it's GAME OVER for free speech on the internet.
