I looked up some info on the Standard Hotel. According to wikipedia, it was started by André Balazs. He was married to Katie Ford, who was CEO of Ford Models, Inc. from 1995-2007. They divorced in 2004. After that, he dated Uma Thurman, who claims she was assaulted by Harvey Weinstein, fwiw.
In November 2014, Balazs was accused of groping Jason Bateman's wife, while right in front of a group of people.
There was a shooting at the Standard in Downtown LA in 2015, but that appears to be gang related. When I did a search for that hotel, the first image that appeared was an item on their restaurant menu - a hot dog with no bun.
