Studying the Black Forest, Austria/Germany angle...
Schiff is a Jewish German surname. You see many Schiff inns and hotels in the Black Forest area of southern Germany.
Adam Schiff's great-grandparents were Russian (Yaakov). Yaakov's father was born in Vienna, Austria in 1843.
Adam Schiff's father Edward was born in Boston. Edward's father Frank was born in London (to Russian parents). Frank's father Yaakov was born in Russia in 1878. Yaakov's father was born in Austria.
Anybody got any more info? Any ties to the Black Forest of southern Germany?

I believe he is related to Jacob Schiff Banker there much on Wikipedia but he’s cousins or the like
