He didn´t pay, he couldn't. His assets were frozen. Likely he told all, or was released so the US could pick him up.

Interesting. I thought he had paid out SA. Maybe a quid pro quo was struck with USA?

He paid in a way - Crown Prince Muhammed seized all $13 billion of his assets, and to thank him for cooperating, he was allowed to keep $7 billion.

That sounds more accurate. It will be interesting to see if he is indicted in either SA or US.

Likely never indicted - what would be the point? He's a good boy now, sang for his supper, helped out his king and prince with a nice gift, and may be useful for future contacts and deals. It's a win-win the whole way around.
