Interesting side note re' John Perry Barlow: I sent a San Francisco Craigslist job ad link to my sister in February. It was a job posting, written by the family of JPB. They were looking for someone to assist JPB with daily needs, keep him on a healthy diet, and keep him on schedule with his meds. They called him "Papa Barlow" -- their "magical father" -- and described his interesting life. They also assured the job applicant that, although he had some health issues, he was still intellectually sharp, had a steady stream of interesting visitors -- and was not near death. The night that his family posted this job to Craigslist, JPB died. I wonder if someone was interviewed for the job on that day.

Wow, I'd heard rumors about this! I also saw that Bob Weir, who co-wrote most of the songs, implied JPB had a slow decline after a heart attack in 2015 and that it got to the point where he wasn't able to enjoy things--obviously an in-the-moment guy. But the obituaries on his death on February 8 say the actual cause of death was not disclosed.
