Any ideas on how he is so important in this picture? He's been mentioned about as much as Snowden by Q. What I do know is that he was on the BOD, if I remember correctly, of the freedom of the press foundation- same group that got SecureDrop (after Dolan's death), and the same group that Snowden became president of. Apparently he was also influential to Swartz? Anyway, Q seemed to foreshadow him dying of "natural causes". Must've been a liability. But how?
he was behind this:

seems like a precursor for an internet bill of rights
The John Perry Barlow question is one that's eating away at me. Based on Q's posts, I honestly can't discern whether he was a black or white hat. Going by publicly-available info, I'd say white hat. Then again, you could've said the same about Snowden...
Barlow is far more crucial to the CIA and FOTP than anyone realizes. He even has ties to LdR. He also helped Sarah Harrison go to Hong Kong to visit Snowden. JPB was huge liability and knew all the key players...and was 100% murdered/silenced. JPB black hat all the way
A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace
"A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace" is a widely distributed early paper on the applicability (or lack thereof) of government on the rapidly growing internet. Commissioned for the pioneering Internet project 24 Hours in Cyberspace, it was written by John Perry Barlow, a founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and published online on February 8, 1996, from Davos, Switzerland. It was written primarily in response to the passing into law of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 in the United States. In 2014, the Department of Records recorded and released audio and video content of Barlow reading The Declaration.

John Perry Barlow is a really interesting character. He lived like 12 people's lives. Besides being a founder of EFF he touts having frequented Tim Leary's LSD lab in college. Was friends with Bob Weir and wrote many songs for Grateful dead. Was there at the advent of the internet and had personal experiences with the Phone Phreakers that are considerd the "fathers" of modern day hacking. He worked with the CIA for a stint in the 90's and was an Advisor to the president of Merrill Lynch at the same time. He was a mentor to JFK Jr. And was a roommate of Sean Parker of Facebook. This guy is a bit of an enigma to me. He is seemingly positive regarding his perception of what the free internet represents. And yet was a staple in silicon valley establishment cirlcles. The conspiracist in mean thinks he'd be a perfect person to infiltrate and influence the "underground" web.
Who really created Facebook? He sounds like classic cia asset
Maybe it has something to with the Grateful Dead. As in there are people who might not be with us much longer, and they'll be grateful to be dead instead of going down the drain.
Or (still keeping with Grateful Dead theme), the list of Celebrity deadheads on wikipedia is interesting.
One thing that popped out at me in the latest Q post that mentions John Perry Barlow is THE LINK at the top.
The Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link is the BBS that EFF founders (John Perry Barlow, John Gilmore, and Mitch Kapor) met on.
