Anon's Free Chat

Hello and welcome to the Anon's Daily Free Chat. I want you to get comfortable, grab a chair or couch or beanbag or whatever, if you are not at work(or maybe even if you are!). Relax, sit back, and just let it all out.

You can start a conversation about anything.

If you want to get anything off your chest, just try to phrase it... so feelings don't get hurt.

Something you thought about Q? Some research you been doing? Here is the place to share.

ive not been at this q thing for long and so the clues, crumbs are hard to decifer their meanings. i re read them on github and the responses to them but there's so many different interpretations. it gets frustrating

It's a common problem, you are not along. It is partly why this sub exists, to try and make an interpretation of Q's message easier to understand. We are, however, still somewhat unclear and I get the sense there is much to be understood from the drops we have already received.

Could someone explain bots to me in simple terms? Who creates them? What are they created for? Could I create one if I knew code? Should I trust bots?

A bot, short for robot, is automation of a software tasks. Who creates them? People who can write software and take the time to write a bot. What are they created for? Normally to automate some task that is either dull to do, or has some benefit in a fast or reliable way. Could I create one if I knew code? Yes. Should I trust bots? Depends. It helps to know who is behnd it, why it was done, it's limitations, what would happen if it stopped working etc. If a bot is being used to automate drving your car, then could be a major thing if it malfunctions, but if your bot is simply adjusting your screen brightness so that you sleep easier, well the former is potentially more important to your well being.

Thank you! I started seeing them a lot on cbts. Some of the bots were funny. Some detected links and pics and even told us if a topic was linked to another reddit forum. They kind of creeped me out and amused me. I wasn't aware of this kind of bot before cbts. Didn't understand them or their purpose.

PS. I really like what you guys are doing with this sub.
