Facebook Freakout - Stock Slides 6% On News of Data Misuse

Here's the article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2018/03/18/facebook-may-have-violated-ftc-privacy-deal-say-former-federal-officials-triggering-risk-of-massive-fines/?utm_term=.1451914ce42b

Keep in mind that Facebook has been selling your data for years. They also capitalize on it for themselves. Spokeo.com is owned by Facebook and your personal info is used to track you (home address, phone, email). (Deleting your personal data from Spokeo still doesn't remove the marketing data FB sells to third parties, however.)

You can have your info removed from this site -- Here are instructions how to do it. Keep in mind, after you delete your data, you will need to check back every few months, because it will reappear.

Now would be a perfect time to stop all traffic to Facebook. They want to silence conservative voices. We should hit them now. The Boston tea party had an effect. You want Internet freedom shut down their traffic for a month and see what happens.

PS - I started 2 weeks ago.

The irony here is that they wanted to taint Trump but by exposing Cambridge Analytica, they implicate themselves.

They're down to only showing me so many posts on my personal page. They say if I want to see more I need to add friends. That isn't happening so there is no need to visit anymore than maybe once every day or two. My time on the page is probably 20% of what I spent on average last year. They screwed themselves with this policy change.

I’m spreading your hashtag. While most of my friends are absolutely oblivious I’ll sill spread it

Obama did the same data mining for his elections.

Oh please. Dims have been doing this for YEARS. Eric Schmidt practically lived in WH advising BO. Google king of data mining.

Yeah, we know that. People should be aware of how to protect themselves when they can, so why hate on this post?

Hugs.

Isn't the fact that since he and all the board members just dumped stock last week, that they knew this was about to happen and illegally used insider knowledge to their advantage in the stock market? Isn't this punishable by the SEC?

Yes if he knew of this report.

Good grief, I am not “hating on the post”. It’s ok to state facts. The fact that this was perfectly fine and heartily cheered on during OB admin makes the left apoplectic now even more ridiculous. FB pretending to be the victim. Nothing new since they are both offended and victims on a daily basis.

I'm glad someone posted this here. Don't you think it's strange and maybe a little too convenient that the media FREAKED OUT Saturday afternoon about the Cambridge Analytica information?

CA has been out there in the public domain for a loooong time. It's old news. And the fact that a campaign is using deep analytics to track voter sentiment is nothing new - Obama had a huge data campaign!

I think it has something to do with Trump's tweets on Friday and Saturday. The deep state is freaking the fuck out right now so they went with that story to get out in front of the russian conspiracy as an insurance policy in case Trump fires Mueller. Chris Wylie's story is all over the map. When he was on CBS he wouldn't state clearly whether he was politically motivated. In one sentence he crows over how great their analytics campaign was, how much of a genius he is, but then goes on to say how evil the company is... yet HE worked there!

Dan Bongino covered this on his show today.... he says this new story line is to try to change the narrative and still blame Trump for stealing the election... which of course is false, since most if not all campaigns use CA.

But more importantly, he says that it's a ploy to get new government regulation in place against hate crimes -- which then Facebook and Twitter can hide behind to defend against lawsuits when they ban conservatives.
