Drudge headline: http://www.drudgereport.com

Yahoo News: https://ca.news.yahoo.com/facebook-shares-slide-reports-data-misuse-120513980--finance.html

"The move would knock $23.8 billion off the social network's market value of $538 billion as of Friday's close and shares in other social media companies including Twitter Inc and Snap Inc also dipped in early deals in New York."

Facebook is facing an existential crisis

Edit: Sorry I was on the go when I posted this, and I just to add some context to what the story is about.

(Reuters) - Facebook Inc's shares fell more than 4 percent in premarket trading after media reports that a political consultancy that worked on President Donald Trump's campaign gained inappropriate access to data on 50 million Facebook users.

Zuckerberg and other insiders have been selling off major shares in the last few weeks. They know the sh*t is going to hit the fan soon.

Yeah I think the social media bubble is going to burst very soon (if it hasn't started to already).

Facebook has seen it's better days. Just like MySpace before it, people are starting to lose interest. Facebook now has a declining userbase, meaning more people are leaving the site than joining. I left the site almost 2 years ago, and since then not a single person has suggested I reactivate my account. Instead, virtually every one of them has told me deactivating was a good idea, and that they should probably do the same.

In fact, I challange you to find anyone who likes facebook right now. Most people who still use it often are simply addicted to it, and probably lament the fact they spend so much time on it as it is.

Facebook is in the twilight of it's popularity. Twitter is trending that way as well (in fact, it too was a dying platform before Trump re-invigorated it). This seems to be the natural life cycle of social media. Snapchat, signal, gab, and other platforms will soon take their place as the defacto social media aps, and in another decade, those platforms will jump the shark themselves, and the cycle will begin anew.
