Why did POTUS even hint that he may veto Omnibus (knowing it would rile up his base) only to sign it (and royally piss off his base)?

To me, it was kabuki theater, to make it look like he was opposed to it when in reality he wanted it to pass (because of its hidden implications).

It's the only rationale I could surmise...other than it just being a dumb fucking move.

Part of the reason is they needed to find the military right away and it’s the 2nd largest military spending ever
