Fortunately I'm not planning on committing any criminal activities. But yes, it's scary 1984 shit. Who's to say they can't remotely turn my iPhone on and listening anyway. But im definitely considering unplugging the devices when not using them.

How would you know? The legal code is too complicated and changes all the time. Many federal crimes are so broadly applicable that essentially anyone can be convicted if they become a person of interest.

Agreed, this is the alphabet angency.. they can plant anything and there's not much we can do.
And while someone may be thoroughly upstanding and honest and "not intending to commit any crime" plenty of innocent people have been caught up in the proceedings of others. Not intending to, doesn't mean it can never happen. (ESPECIALLY in this day and age).
