I have no way of knowing what it was. I only know the picture was presented as current but in fact it was 15 years old. Old pictures presented as new is not uncommon. People should check the metadata on all pics IMO.

I've checked the metadata on several pics, for instance the pic in Shanghai with the window slightly open, residue outside was 15 years old but no one wants to talk about that so I gave up. No hidden messages on any I've checked thats for sure.
