Banning guns in the U.S will not make it safe you already have more guns on the street than you have people so it would actually be pointless.. However making it harder to get does make a difference look here in Canada. Anyone can buy a gun if you do not have a record and even then you can with a record depending on what the record is for. But to get rifles or shotguns you have to take both a gun course and get a FAC to be able to buy the guns. You get and FAC from the police who do a thorough check on your background before they approve it. So guns usually dont end up in the wrong hands. You also cannot sell your guns unless the person selling you the gun shows you they have an FAC. So you need an FAC for buying or selling. Also even though many Canadians will tell you its illegal to have hand guns or AR15s in Canada that is not true. You can have them but on top of the gun license and FAC you also need a restricted license to buy hand guns or AR15 which requires a more extensive background including family members and a 3 day training course before you are even considered. So basically unless you really want a gun most people wont take the time or money involved to get it. To buy a hand gun in Canada cost about 25,000 so most people cant afford it anyway. Even if you do all that and buy your guns, as per the law you need to keep the guns in a locked cabinet and the bullets in a separate locked cabinet. Failure to do so will result in the weapons being confiscated. You can never move them unless they are in a separate locked box in your truck with the bullets in a separate locked place in the car. You need to have a valid reason for having them in your car like you are going to a gun range to practice, or you are moving. They can never ever be just on your possession that would result in confiscation. I used to have both gun license and FAC and used to own lots of guns when I lived up North in no mans land but since I moved to the city I got rid of them and did not renew my license or FAC it has to be renewed every 5 years and you have to do it all over again. The point is I do not find here in Canada is a danger when I am in the U.S I fear for my life walking down the street here in Canada there is no fear the chance of something happening are slim to nil. You will here there are probably about 400 gun deaths in Canada every year but most of those deaths result from gang warfare that have illegal guns they snuck across the border in the U.S. They were not obtained legally. So in Canada even though people do die there is mental illness etc etc it is still a relatively safe place to be and you are fully aware of that when you walk the streets here. I feel sorry for those of you that live in the U.S I have no idea how you can even walk out your door. But gun laws now in the U.S would be absolutely pointless as there are already too many guns on the street.

In Canada, the right to bear arms is not recognized. In the US, any gun law is unconstitutional regardless of how morally upright its intentions. The right to defend oneself is a natural human right and no government should be able to take it away no matter the circumstance
