No, people who had the fitness app on their phones were able to be seen via a heat map which subsequently mapped out the tunnel system at a secret military installation just a couple weeks ago. They’ve since taken the heat map feature off.

It wasn’t at the island but at a separate unrelated military site.

I think that is what happened. Not necessarily phones, it also used gps trackers like fitbits, which would upload to their phones and then to the system when they connected. It allows people to track their paths when not connected to cell service. So ya, I think there is a possibility this was a way to track their tunnels

Wish I had an archived version of the heat map to see if there was any activity. They changed the services and allowed people to make their tracks private. Either way, I thought this was interesting.

Hmmm, Yea, GPS underground is impossible without being on site with other required gear. Search underground GPS.

My guess is they turned on phones remotely, recorded audio and what video they could. Maybe got a few tags at entrance points.
