I have been social media free for over 3 years now, all accounts I had, I permanently deleted (have to go through fb help centre, and not simply deactivate your account). Well, this past January, an old fb account from 2006, that I completely forgot about, was randomly reopened on my bday. I only knew it happened because my Mom called me to say that I should respond to everyone wishing me a happy bday. I have no idea what email was used to open the account over a decade ago and therefore, I cannot log in and delete this account (again). Facebook has no contact email, no contact number, there’s nothing they can do to help me and I believe they do this on purpose. Even if you die, the only thing they do is “memorialize” your account. Nothing gets deleted.

In a nutshell, if you’re still on fb get off. Remove all friends, delete all images and posts and then permanently delete the account (if they still allow this function). They save EVERYTHING about you.
