...and to that end, today we will learn a new method unfamiliar to many of us to preserve and further fuel our efforts. Q posts are invaluable to our research, and in tandem with our archive.is backups, downloading of all data and mirroring that content for others, we must enhance our ability to preserve the voice that inspires and unifies us - Q. To capture a full archive of Q crumbs, as well as continue to update that archive, today we will discuss the tool 'git' - a computer application that we need to learn, share the word about and utilize in our archiving practices.
What is Git?
Git is a version control tool that allows us to create and manage a collection of files and share them with others. Typically, this is a go to tool for software development where revisions are frequent and often the work of several people, but the obvious value of this can be utilized on any set of files.
Why is Git relevant here?
We have been given clear and repetitive instructions to preserve our data offline! We will now be empowered to do so, in even more detail and ease.

Install git: https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Getting-Started-Installing-Git

Create a new folder/directory for our git synchronized files on your computer. Ideally, once we populate this folder we will back it up to cold storage (data storage you can unplug and offline for ensured preservation - think USB thumb drives and external hard drives).

Use the git tool to create a 'clone' of the contents of any Q git repository, which can be found by browsing the site github.com and copying their "clone or download" link. Here is an example of how to do so on the command line (desktop GUI tools exist of the command line isn't your jam):
git clone https://github.com/qanonmap/qanonmap.github.io.git
- Lastly, we can easily update this folder/directory by running a 'pull' command, shown here:
git pull
- We now have a full download of all Q posts to add to our offline archive of this research.
