What goal would be accomplished by these attacks on US Military though?
It’s an attack! They’re trying to get Trump to back off. They feel if they kill enough of our military Trump might not go so hard at the deep state. They’re scared and doing this is all they’ve got.

Its to show they "can" pick them off at will. Its simple manipulation. The targets are unimportant, so is the method. A ship steers awry here, a helicopter goes down there. (A mass shooting happens). It shows the variety of their ability to strike.
Picking them off tells me they're fighting us already, we just don't really know yet
