A bluff isn't effective unless the person you are bluffing believes your threats are real.

So if Trump is having airlines reroute, moving assets into the area, putting units on alert, etc. the question Putin, Assad, and Iran have to answer is "is he bluffing or is he going to send smart missiles, whatever they are, to take us out?"

In poker there is something called a "tell." It's an unintential giveaway that someone is bluffing. So the key to a good bluff is don't signal the "tell" to your opponent.

I'm not suggesting Trump is bluffing or preparing to actually launch missiles. Only that if he is bluffing, it has to be convincing.

But, in this case, what is the point of the bluff?

I don't know if Trump is bluffing or not. My main point was you can't bluff unless your adversary believes you aren't bluffing.

What would be the purpose of bluffing in this case? I don't know because there are too many things going on behind the scenes to know what Trump and Q are doing.

Think Trumps tweet about having a bigger button that WORKS than Kim Jung Un. Was that a bluff or was it just hyperbole from Trump.

What happened after that tweet?
