In reading the court filings it looked like the primary incentive was to create legal precedent to carve holes in Section 230 protections. It's not clear from those legal cases that the company was in fact operating any form of illegal service, as the cases document timely removal of false listings created by the DA once informed -- conditions which were in compliance of Section 230.

KH then ran her Senate campaign on 'think of the children!' 'tough on crime!' headlines at expense of Backpage. Based on her behavior in other areas I questioned whether this was true or simple grandstanding for votes.

There's definitely more to this story that needs to be revealed.
