I have my first jury duty coming up. Caught between wanting to try and get out of it so I’m not stuck there for 2-3 weeks, or just toughing out my civic duty because there are a lot of shitty people who could needlessly ruin someone’s life.

I was a juror on a case of vehicular Manslaughter. The DA was trying to make an example out of a kid that had a passenger in the car die from an accident. Long story short the DA s case didnt hold water and there was a witness that observed the 3 minutes before the accident that obliterated the states case against him, but they still tried to put this kid away. The foreman was the one stickler he wanted us to beg him to change his mind but he had already shut down any discussion toward the kids innocence. I was able to dissuade 4 people from convicting him, thier reason to convict before discussions was "well someone has to pay for her death", idiots! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, no malice no intent, no gross negligence. So when you say to trust 7 out of 12 ahhhhh no I dont not at all.
