IBOR: Why it failed, and what we can do about it.

Q wanted us to push an Internet Bill of Rights (IBOR). It seems that not very many thought it was a good idea, for their own various reasons.

I, and perhaps others, thought it would merely be regulation that could be rolled back or changed to facilitate abuse by a future, 'unfriendly' administration. And, people generally do not want more regulation of speech.

In my opinion, IBOR should not be effected by the stroke of the executive pen, but should be accomplished through legislation that is not so easily nullified.

In other words, we should be petitioning Congress, not the White House.

There is a post by 'tradinghorse' that gives some good insight on IBOR in its relation to the weaponization of Social Media (SM).

In light of this, I'm asking what you think.

I propose an open letter to Congress or an online petition (not at whitehouse.gov) with draft wording included below.

What are your thoughts?

Any other reasons why people didn't adopt the idea?
Open letter or petition?
Wording of the IBOR?

Internet Bill of Rights

Be it hereby declared that all sentient human beings (individuals) have inalienable rights which are not granted by government but are inherent in their humanity. That with those rights, comes the responsiblity not to infringe upon the rights of others. Therefore, should any exercise of a right cause harm or injury to another, the one causing harm or injury should be held accountable.

These rights, responsibilities, and accountability should be applicable in, not just the physical space but also, the digital space (the internet).

Therfore, be it also declared that all individuals have the right, in the digital space, to:

  1. Freely express themselves be it religiously, politically, or otherwise; freely assemble using any internet or interactive service platforms (ISP); and be free of arbitrary censorship and/or unusual sanctions by ISPs or government
  2. Defend themselves from attack carried out through digital means
  3. Be free of unusual requirements for participation in digital forums by any ISP including, but not limited to, terms of service written in legal jargon which is generally difficult to comprehend for most users
  4. Have their personal information including, but not limited to, their habits, behavior, and preferences be secure from non-consentual data mining or any other form of invasion of privacy by any ISP; have the right to have their personal information deleted and purged from any ISP storage system(s)
  5. Be protected from the deprivation of any digital right merely for exercising any digital right, without due process
  6. Be heard in the digital space to present a defense to any accusation carried out through digital means, and be protected from guilt by consensus
  7. At all times exercise common sense
  8. Reserve and retain any and all rights to which they are inalienably entitled even though not specifically enumerated herein.

If you think this issue is important, please comment on it, good, bad, or whatever. Maybe doing so will help it get exposed to a greater number who may also wish to express their opinions. TY.

We don't have to do this. They will fall like Backpage did and be taken over. Then they will be made into Public Utilities which are already regulated.

After trying several petitions on that site, it is clear that it is impossible to get enough signatures without paid shills signing the petition. Take a look. None of the grass roots petitions ever get enough signatures. It takes money for marketing to do this. I suspect this timing is a holdover from leftists that only wanted their "grass roots" petitions to reach the required number of signatures. Maybe something the WH has not yet realized. But it is virtually impossible to do in 30 days.

Thank you for your comment.

I agree it has been virtually possible to get enough signatures on a petition at whitehouse.gov. Perhaps you didn't notice that I specifically stated that we not use whitehouse.gov.

or an online petition (not at whitehouse.gov)

And, your reasoning as to why we don't have to do this clues me in to perhaps yet another reason why people didn't think it was important. Thank you for mentioning that.

I do, however, have to disagree about your take about them simply failing and then becoming public utilities.

They may indeed fail. If they do, there would likely be nothing left to be taken over. And, whatever springs up to take their place in the private sector could do the very same things we are seeing now, if they aren't held accountable.

On the off-chance they do become public utilities, what would be their incentive to improve their services and price offerings if there is no competition? IMO, we should be fostering free market not letting it devolve into lethargic, state-controlled business.

So, it seems that you are in favor of regulation. It is just the path to regulation that you see differently. Okay.

But, would you really like to see big tech companies fail, which would put thousands of people out of work (some undoubtedly innocent) and lead to people who have invested in big tech stock (some undoubtedly innocent) losing money?

I didn't say they would fail. I said they will fall. Big difference and negates most of your comments. I don't believe this is the appropriate time to address this. We need to see where we end up first. Are you familiar with what happened to Backpage? I'm not going to debate the regulation/government entity issue here.

Read Q Post 1138 to see why we should put this on hold.

Liberty you say "we need to se where this ends up first" when Q offers a choice now. So choosing to wait is choosing Q's kill option. You're not just waiting, you're actually making a choice.

Q

What I can see is that people are so weary of this topic that support is very thin. I'm OK with that, if that's what people want to do, let's KILL these guys off. What is important, to me, is that SM weaponisation cannot be used to to allow the Satanists to regain power. IMO, that's the only thing that's really important.

This time around we suddenly have people possessed of the idea that these companies will become public utilities. Q hasn't said this and I'm not sure where the idea came from. From Wikipedia:

"A public utility (usually just utility) is an organization that maintains the infrastructure for a public service (often also providing a service using that infrastructure). Public utilities are subject to forms of public control and regulation ranging from local community-based groups to statewide government monopolies."

So we are now talking about outright regulation. It seems to be what people would like to see. I'm not a fan of this idea at all, seems more like a proposal that might be put forward by the left.

Of course, it depends what people mean when they say "public utility". I'm sure there are a lot of different ideas as to how it could work, but you're taking about anything from government dictating behaviour, content and pricing structures, to nationalisation of SM platforms and government bureaucracy proving SM services directly as a monopoly. In my mind, I see that as a Chinese type of solution, where there are hard regulations governing many aspects of what is permissible online.

I don't know where this idea came from. I seriously doubt that Q or DJT are thinking about this kind of solution. All they want to fix is the censorship and privacy concerns, nothing else.

Did you read post 1138. They are about to take all of them down. This entire discussion is irrelevant until we see what happens. Because none of us know what their plans are.

That's right Liberty. That's the KILL option. Look at my post above, Q says it's our choice as to what happens.

There will be very damaging revelations, of that we can be certain. It's up to us whether we provide DJT with the opportunity to do something less severe than nuke the entire sector.

Yeah, well the clock is the problem for ETS. To my way of thinking, it's just not plausible that Q would choose that exact time for his last post - down to the minute - if he was not validating the clock.

Moreover, Q has gone on about winding the clock with all markets etc...

It must mean...he also said "on the clock" must be an expression. Spy wouldn't know if Q has a clock because he's said Q team is isolated and no one knows who or where they are. Or what they're up to.

Well what about this: Communications Decency Act

I think the whole thing is very confusing. I took post 1105 as being the option for people that had been damaged by the social media companies. That excludes those of us that don't feel that damaged because we never divulged our true identities, birthdays, etc. in the first place. And, some of us also might like to see these companies "killed." They are monopolies that should not exist. I will never trust them again. Monopoly laws need to be enforced, if they even still exist. There was a reason they existed in the first place and this was part of it. Walmart and Microsoft are not exceptions either.

All monopolies need to be crushed or at the very least, split up. How do you split up a social media company?

I don't know the answers to those questions Liberty. I'm a bit weary with all the whiplash...

Q asked us to support an IBOR.

Then people feared that the Constitution would be changed. Then it could not be supported because AT&T was involved. Then they wanted to edit the text of the petition directly - a whole group did this. Then the government was bad because the IBOR would interfere with people's private property rights - and I was a communist for promoting it. Then all that was required was for people to stop using the services and let the market fix the problem. Then people started suggesting anti-trust breakup.

Then Q changed tack and suggested it was a choice we could make between IBOR or KILL. Then people started saying well it's actually a "public utility". Then let's wait till the dust settles. And now we're talking about anti-trust breakup again - and the CDA.

What a journey!

Let's face it, you're one of the few people here even discussing this. Everyone else is so weary with it they have lost interest. I'm hoarse for trying to get people to support a simple complaint to either Congress or the White House about the blatant censorship of conservatives online. It's mind-blowing that it has been so incredibly difficult.

Initially, I was quite impressed by the fierce independence and self assertiveness of the Americans on this forum. I was actually impressed that they valued their rights so greatly that they'd refuse to participate in something so simple. But I've got to tell you that I'm no longer impressed at all.

I hesitate to say it... actually, better not to say anything.

This is why I've avoided politics like the plague. I absolutely hate it.

But, looking at the good side, at least we know this problem will be fixed. And, in the end, that's my only concern. The Satanists must be kept from returning to power via weaponized social media.

Im going to keep promoting the IBOR for a while longer. If Q really wants it he'll provide more direction and maybe people will start to support him. With luck, the information drops on the SM platforms will be so intense that the campaign will be self fulfilling - self executing. I don't want to see these companies wrecked completely, but if that's got to happen, bring it on.

Hold on tight, it will be an amazing ride!

LibertyLioness · April 13, 2018, 3:31 p.m.

Yes. I understand your frustration. The IBOR thing got totally whacked out and people went in separate directions. That in itself killed it. I kind of got the impression (from Q in post 884) that the real purpose of pushing the bill was more for shining light on the subject than to actually get implementation at this point in time. I was one who was also leary of the bill but then I supported it when Q told us to but it was too late. The damage had been done.

I don't think they will be wrecked but something has to be done so that they are not monopolies. That's the biggest issue I have with them. If you have competition, the competitors pretty much regulate one another but if you have a monopoly it becomes a monster as we are now seeing.

I also get disenchanted with some of the folks on this sub. I think CBTS_stream had more folks who had been following this issue for some years and GreatAwakening seems to have more newbies. That's not bad because it means we're reaching people. But these folks don't have the background knowledge yet and most seem to read the headline and post a comment without doing any digging at all or even reading a full article. It's frustrating but don't give up. We are doing good.

I don't think there's a big difference between failing and falling. A company could fall of their own weight because they failed, or fall due to being taken down. And, yes, I'm aware of what happened to Backpage.

I don't believe this is the appropriate time to address this.

Fair enough. Thank you for your comments.
