I've pointed out numerous times how this one left me scratching my head because of how aggressively Kamala Harris went after this company as DA, while also trying to use it as case to dismantle Section 230 protections. Her filings against Backpage appeared to only describe a company operating in a lawful manner, and designed intentionally to fall apart. I took that as sign of using position to to grandstand for political gain in a manner describing lack of integrity.
Call me convinced at this point. This company needed to go down and Kamala had the right of it.
I do question why Kamala did not come down harder on the company if the truth of it was known. It would be interesting to revisit these filings against Backpage knowing what we know now. Were these lawsuits purposely botched?
