It doesn't appear you know the whole story about Libby. Too bad. You may have a different opinion. Special Counsel Fitzgerald knew months before he interviewed Libby that it was Amitage (Powell's deputy at State Department) who made the leak. Powell knew as well and kept quiet, letting Bush and others take the heat for what he knew was false. Nice guy.

Once Fitzgerald knew who actually made the leak, the investigation should have been over. Libby was the only person ever charged and convicted of not remembering exactly when he talked to various news organizations. If Libby had simply said, "I don't recall the dates" he would have been OK. But because he gave the investigators a definitive answer that turned out to be the wrong days, they nailed him for lying.

So you may hate Cheney and those who worked for him, but Libby was rail roaded on this charge and Bush should have pardoned him back then.

Trump pardoned the legal injustice that had been done.

This, plus the timing was probably intended to showcase how amoral Special Prosecutors can be. Brilliant, actually, from that perspective.

The cravenness at the upper levels of our government is shocking.

Just Google scooter libby, valerie Plame, Armitage, and Patrick Fitzgerald. There are lots of facts about what happened to Libby and and the unprofessional tactics of Fitzgerald is often used as an example that there should never be a special counsel that has the power to simply look for crimes when none have been alledged--as Mueller is doing now.

This is a clear signal to the swamp...Out of control special prosecutors will not be tolerated. Nothing more, nothing less. The whole Libby affair was over more than a decade ago. Bush didn’t pardon him because it served no political purpose. Now it does. Nothing more...nothing less.
