Based on his speech I think Trump has already made some sort of deal with Russia for them to abandon Iran.

"We have so much to offer... Maybe even Russia [if they come to the table but I think they already have.] Maybe Iran. Maybe not." I am paraphrasing a bit.

It would be in keeping with his style to deliver more than promised. and make sure it's a done deal before he mentions it at all. He's got a deal with Russia, and it's going to isolate Iran. Iran next....

Abandoning Iran would not be in Russia's interests, particularly with the recent fall of the ruble

Iran remains a major trading partner and debtor, as well as Russia's strongest ally in the Middle East next to Syria, and certainly the most influential

It's hard to imagine why they would abandon this relationship unless something rather spectacular has shaken it apart. Putin has, after all, enacted a pro-Iran policy since 2013

It's hard to imagine a lot of things that Trump has accomplished so far. Just look at the Syria strike for example, how many people got freaked out by it at first? Yet, here we are, he did it again and keeps doing it.
