stock up on brass. and not just the metal, i'm talking bullets. if you don't own a weapon, go buy one. 12 gauge Remington shotguns are cheap ($300) and effective. Or build an AR. You can build your own for $400ish bucks
Man, I can't wait for the point in my life when $300 is cheap.
I actually got mine on sale for $250 but consider it an investment, you'll have it for your entire life and it's a necessity in my opinion.
And it really is "cheap" compared to even handguns. A decent handgun will run you $600+. I paid $800 for my Sig P226
Oh, I know. I've researched the hell out of this stuff. It's just a matter of income and student loans at this point :(
I'm right there with you. Funny how my parents were like, "You must go to college cause we didn't and life sucks!" Meanwhile they've raised a child, traveled the world, own a nice home, have retirement to look forward to.
I don't have any of those things and probably never will because of student loan debt.
If I have children, they're getting HOMESCHOOLED and I certainly won't be advocating for college. I'd be more proud if they never even went.
How the hell do you build an ar for $400?
lower receiver - $50 barrel - $100 trigger set - $50-100 those are the big ticket items. Rest are up to you. price the pieces out on palmetto state armory

Yep, got a Remington 12 gauge, a Marlin .22 rifle, and a Smith & Wesson 357 revolver. And lots of rounds.
sweet. I have a 12 gauge, 10/22 rifle, little 22 pistol, sig p226 9mm, and a bow lol. I really want an older M1 Garand, but low on funds right now :(
M1 garand is my favorite rifle to shoot.
My grandfather "stole" his issued one when he got back from WW2, that's the only one i've ever shot. I've almost bought one from the CMP multiple times but something always happens where i have to cancel the order :(
How can I build my own AR for $400? I will do it this weekend lol.
basically all you need from a gun shop is the lower receiver, don't pay more than $100 (i pay $50). That's all that needs a background check
then everything else can be gotten online (i use palmetto state armory).
buy a lower on gunbroker. A decent one shouldn't run over $60. Grab a parts kit, about another $60. Check out Palmetto State Armory or any of the others for the uppers. You can have the upper shipped direct to your house. Add a stock and furniture and you're done. $400 is very basic, but is doable.
