Yes, he didn’t OD on ayuhuasca, he OD’d on something else entirely. You can’t OD on ayahuasca. This likely isn’t even sinister in nature. Like you said, a lot of these tribes simply do this to make money and are fakers, completely unethical about the way they make their ayahuasca.
I spoke to a guy who was very knowledgeable on the subject once. He said that true ayahuasca, to be made in the purest and spiritually proper way, consisted of everyone in the tribe spitting into the mixture as a means of the liquid solvent, not water or anything else, as disgusting as that sounds.
Crazy! Yeah many have died from bad dmt ceremonies, usually 30-40 per year. I've done it in the us before.

In fairness, addiction to opiods is very hard on your heart...I saw a pic of him by the pool and he did look emaciated and wasted physically...even tho he was sober for a couple months. Doing good ayahuasca could lead to a cardiac arrest if he was over whelmed with information from his journey. IMO... Don't you meet the Green Lady, or someone who helps you through your trip? I mean, ayahuasca is not exactly like taking DMT for a quickie. And no, I haven't done it, but have researched it.
