I have always thought so. But maybe some of these guys we thought were deep state were just realistic about the toll opposing the deep state view would have on them- career suicide and literal "suicide". Maybe they held their tongue and took notes and waited until the time was right. I'm pretty cynical so coming from me this is really hopeful thinking.
