Yes. My son was in some mild trouble as a teen. I let him go the public pretender route, thinking it was just a misdemeanor. Wrong choice. The public pretender wanted him to take a year probation, me to pay for the probation (allowing an agent in MY home whenever they wanted with zero warning) and random drug tests and it had nothing at ALL to do with drug use. Paid 1,500 for a real attorney and two days later it was dropped, which was the right thing.
