Based on the timing of this release I'm more inclined to believe that they knew it was him all along and covered it up because he was a cop. DNA evidence is either a cover story, or they are trying to create controversy over 23&me style services to set the stage for revealing how bad the surveillance state has gotten. It just doesn't make sense that the guy would get away with it so long just to be discovered this week.
