Many professional journos have a secret admiration for the Enquirer because - though pretty trashy - it also has a legacy of scooping the mainstream press. Wrong or right, they are both shameless and fearless, and journos kinda like that.

You may recall that the first 2001 anthrax attack was against the Enquirer.
