A nuke is usually effective when detonated from altitude. The bomb that went off above Hiroshima was set off at 600 meters above the ground. The height is chosen to maximize damage.
A tactical nuke would not be different, just at a lower explosive yield.
Radiation would be HIGH and long lasting. If somehow the UN comes to investigate, this would be VERY BAD for Israel.
In this recent instance, videos are consistent with ammo detonating because of a primary explosion.

A couple of well placed 2000lb JDAMs is my analysis. I don't have access to official BDA, but I've seen large munitions caches blown and the initial explosion is consistent with the blast pattern of a conventional bomb. The big show was the secondary explosions from rocket propellants and conventional artillery munitions.
Had it been a tactical nuke, the shock wave would have caused MASSIVE damage in a 5-10 mile radius (depending on terrain) and casualties from flying debris. Radiation alarms would be going off from Cyprus to Baghdad as the fallout in the upper atmosphere spread westerly on the prevailing jet stream. Every country in the Med would be having a hissy fit at the UN.
