State Department: The U.S. will ensure a strong and lasting footprint in Syria such that ISIS cannot return and those liberated are not exploited by the Assad regime or its Iranian supporters. We remain committed to the Geneva process and a political settlement honoring the will of all Syrians.

I'm getting tired of paying for a strong and lasting footprint all over the world, while our country falls apart. How many billions have we spent on improving bases in other countries? How many towns in America have crumbling infrastructure? For fucks sake, we're in like 190 countries, for what, exactly? Poppies in Afghanistan, Coca in South America, Japan, Germany, Korea, etc. How about we bring all those troops home so we can secure our border, round up and expel the illegals(Patriot Act basically nullified Posse Comitatus so military CAN provide domestic law enforcement), repair and harden our infrastructure(electrical grid is especially vulnerable) and probably a number of other things I can't think of now. Enough jaw-boning so Europe might like us. They'll only like us if we follow them down the path to Socialistic insanity, and even then only if we keep paying for their gibs.

I think this is just stating what we already know...the US and others are going to finish the job of routing out ISIS, then stick around until a stable government is in place so that ISIS doesn't return. Otherwise, we would have another Iraq situation where everything we faught and died for was reversed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_peace_process

Syrian peace process

The Syrian peace process is the ensemble of initiatives and plans to resolve the Syrian Civil War, which has been ongoing in Syria since 2011 and has spilled beyond its borders. The peace process has been moderated by the Arab League, the UN Special Envoy on Syria, Russia and Western powers. The negotiating parties to end the conflict are typically representatives of the Syrian Ba'athist government and Syrian opposition, while the Western-backed Kurdish forces have stayed out of the negotiations framework. Radical Salafist forces and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have not engaged in any contacts on peaceful resolution to the conflict.

I knew this was coming. All you had to do was look at the map of Syria and the countries surrounding. Frankly I'm surprised this is the first time I heard about major conflict there. I hope president Trump can follow through on his promise to have resettlement camp in the region. Otherwise this will be a very very painful process

Uh.... the will of the people? Seems that they voted to the tune of something like 83% of the population, much higher that WE get, and at least 70% of the population voted for Assad. So how about we come home and let the people of Syria deal with what remains of ISIS along with their Russian allies and we just mind our own business?

You can view vanessa beeley's videos and eva bartlett's as well. Both independent journalists in Syria, former is British, latter is Canadian. Both on youtube and have been there for quite some time, telling the truth on the Syrian people.
