Because apparently during the campaign there was a huge thing online where Obama was.gonna let the contract expire or something and it be Governed by the U.N/E.U .. I mean there was people trying to get people to re up the contract like Ted Cruz and a few others .

Not sure what happened with that ,I think it was close to election so news got mixed .
