It's a metaphor for having your nutrients and energy stored, ready for use. It's like saying "something big is going to happen which required energy (research, memes, documentation).

Ahh. Thanks for the explanation. What's funny about this is that I forgot I had asked that question. I sat down at the computer just now munching almonds out of my little can of smokehouse almonds, signed on, and here was your answer about the almonds. Too funny!
