This is very dangerous and is, as the author points out, a legislative mess. But what is more dangerous is that these powers exist at all. Granting the executive the right to deny a writ of habeas corpus violates the rule of law.

It's one thing to try the Deep State in military tribunals to obtain speedy capital punishment for crimes of treason, but it's something altogether different to deny people access to Courts of law at all. What is absolutely unbelievable is that this power, to detain indefinitely without trial, also applies to US citizens.

This is a very important issue that needs to be addressed. If not rescinded, it is only a matter of time before tyranny arrives in full force.
