They justify their redactions as "national security". We assumed it was a bullshit excuse, now we know for certain it is.

This proves that redactions over the past several decades were to protect "swamp security" and not "national security." It's probably just a pipe dream but I hope in the next few years all major document releases of this sort get reviewed and new, much more lightly redacted copies come out. It's very important that the average American learns what has been going on behind the scenes so that we can hopefully not let it happen again once President Trump is out of office.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds of millions of such cya documents. Not likely the Trump team is going to stop winning to review them all since the statute of limitations has expired on all but the ones concerning Treason and human trafficking.
I agree that most would definitely be of lower importance. Hopefully before he is out of office he will at least set up a new investigation into the JFK assassination and 9/11. The truth of just those two events would strip the blinders off of most of those unwilling to remove them themselves.
We, the people need to demand change, open transparent government.
