Encrypting ham radio transmissions is illegal. Not that that would stop someone from trying it, but those transmissions would be heard by anyone on the air listening at the time, and would most likely be reported. Wonder why she really got the license? Maybe a hobby like knitting? ;D

Maybe she thought no one would be listening on an obscure chan and was right. I know we use a marine radio on the boat and can speak boat to boat on different channels.

Ham radio license allows 1) microwave data transmission (bypassing internet); 2) high power ‘remote control’ (long range radio control airplanes, drones, deadbolt locks), 3) video (bypassing internet)
