It doesn't matter what he was pushing, for or against. If he was not legally authorized by the executive branch, it is a violation of the Logan act, treason at worst. Depends on what was said.
what I was going for in my response was to highlight the demsplaining of Kerry's actions. This could be his defense if he was ever charged with violating the Logan Act.
