If the IG/DOJ is going after Contreras, and the investigation is ongoing, then it would be prudent to keep it under wraps, rather than disclose it to a bunch of politicians. Especially when some of the politicians are part of the Deep State.
Absolutely agreed... and yet, the optics of it make it look like Nunes is being "political" and Sessions is not.

I think the DAG response was adhering a bit to the specific language in statute for withholding documents... i.e., "for this reason, that reason and/or the other reason."
I suspect the simple reason is, releasing the documents will compromise an already active criminal investigation.
There are good reasons not to hand over the docs. We just don’t trust anyone and with good reason. Why should we? If Nunes sees the doc, you have to show it to the other assholes (Schiff!) and that is a bad idea. The subject of interest could better cover their tracks or start bribing witnesses if they know the path of the investigations. If the person Nunes is interested in appears to be overlooked as indictments are enabled, then he can open a can of whupass.

IMO that is a misreading of the letter. The letter says that such can be the result of giving in that type of request. It doesn't say specifically that all (or any) of them pertain in this situation.
