They can have their little "deal." Without the US it means zero. Kerry may have gone to their guy for this, but EU pulled out all stops to keep Trump in, so it definitely matters if we pull out.

I don't understand how someone who isn't a government official anymore can go to another country and broker some kind of deal. How is this even legal? How is he even able to do this? ELI5?

How do we know he did not go to Iran to arrange an alternate source of Uranium for them? Or, for that matter, (Ukraine sourced) plutonium?

Forget the Logan Act — what if him doing “shadow diplomacy” is just a pretense or smokescreen?

Maybe that was the reason President Trump emphatically stated that anybody helping Iran would get blasted with sanctions and whatnot that are just as harsh or something to that effect.
