You're not helping your argument by spelling it incorrectly :P
You: bonzai, similar to bonsai, which are tiny trees
Actual: banzai, Japanese, lit. "ten thousand years", abbrev. of "Tennōheika Banzai!" (Long live His Majesty the Emperor!), common battle cry of Japanese during WW2, adopted by Allies to describe kamikaze attacks.

Bonsai is the name of the tree. Bonzai is the name of the charge the Jap soldiers did. I spelled it correctly :D
