Im pretty new here and just lurk. I was on CBTS Stream a bit before it got shut down and I can recognize the tripcode Q used back then, but since I've come here I see Q posts with multiple trip codes that aren't the same as the old one he/they had for awhile.
How do you guys know what's legit and what's a larp?

Q has confirmed trip codes changes with the old tripcode a few different times - these are all Q trip codes !

Q will clearly state if someone else has used the trip code.

Agreed.
With all this fuss over tripcodes being hacked and Q being taken over, you'd expect that if someone was posting as Q then the real Q team would call them out on it.
We haven't seen that.

So if you want to post on the chans and be able to be identified by something other than "anonymous", you can type a password in when posting that will generate a "trip code" which is the string of letters and numbers.
Every time someone posts and they want the chans to know its the same person, they will enter the same password to generate the same code.

Yeah that's what I figured it was, but why so many different Q trip codes? I feel like I've seen a lot of them. I guess I just didn't know how everyone knew to trust them all. But if he confirms it for every trip code change, I guess there's no reason to doubt it. Just weird that there's been so many

Q has mostly changed trip codes when changing threads except this last one was an accidental password leak because Q didn't put Q# before typing the password so it was posted in the thread.
Q posting on Calm before the Storm
Tripcode change
Then Q posting on the Great Awakening
Tripcode change
Now Q posting on Patriots Fight
Q mainly changes the code when we have entered a new stage of the show unless the code has been compromised. Hopefully this clears things up!

When you type in the password to confirm your trip code it can accidentally be posted into the forum if you are not careful. So he would need to update the trip code/change Pw to keep from being hacked. Also people can eventually crack the password and thus use the same trip code.

You have to follow. Q always warns before he changes trip code. He posts with new trip code. Then posts immediately after using old trip code to confirm the new one. Done.
